A while back I saw this video of Barack Obama on Youtube which is a mashup of a video of Obama and Bollywood movies and music:
Obama has shown the ability to bring hope to people all around the world for a better future. Maybe it has to do with the fact that America so dominates the world in a perceived negative light due to the actions of George W. Bush that the hope of a seemingly highly intelligent compassionate person becoming the leader of the world’s most dominant government and country seems like light at the end of a long dark tunnel. Barack Obama has a messiah like appeal to many people around the world and there are many websites talking about his messianic appeal. See obamamessiah.blogspot.com or just search the terms Obama and messiah into a search engine.
There is no doubting his charisma and public speaking ability nor his intellect. He is clearly a very gifted person when it comes to inspiring people. There is an article in Time magazine called Picture of the Day where they showed what Obama keeps in his pockets for good luck. Included is what they call a “Monkey God”. Up close you can see that it is a little brass deity of 4 armed Hanuman, the monkey god warrior, and devoted servant to Rama:
A while back I was watching the news on TV and a women reporter accidentally called Barack Obama: Barama. I looked at his name and noticed that you could get Rama from his name like this BaRack ObAMA or like this BaRAck ObaMA.
Rama is known for many things, in India he is used as a symbol for the perfect leader. Rama Rajya is seen as the ideal society. A prosperous bountiful peaceful society where mercy, tolerance, justice and equality are the gifts of God’s blessings come to everyone.

“Obama has shown the ability to bring hope to people all around the world for a better future.”
How so ? By banning Muslims from photo ops with him ? How many more slips will he make now that the world is really watching ?
Tom, let’s compare you and Obama. What have you accomplished in your life? Why is it that so many devotees educated by ISKCON are hateful of everyone and only look for faults in them? You have been told to see everyone but devotees (only those whom you agree with or whom your guru says are alright) as worthy of your contempt. How did you become some type of God able to judge eveyone as contemptible?
I could list my accomplishments but for the mot part they would serve to impress only myself and those I love since after all they were MY goals. Since you want to compare Obama to Rama can you tell me then what things of substance has Obama done ? Sure he says pretty words but how many people has he personally helped with improving their lives.
See it takes more than fancy words to impress me like the saying goes deeds not words.
Tom you are the typical narcissistic neophyte devotee who thinks that all people who are not up to your standards are contemptible. When it comes to people like Obama who are clearly superior to you in their accomplishments, wealth, fame, etc, your narcissistic neophyte mentality rages against them in a misguided jealousy. You need to spend your time somewhere where you can find peace. Bye.
“Rama Rajya is seen as the ideal society. A prosperous bountiful peaceful society where mercy, tolerance, justice and equality are the gifts of God’s blessings come to everyone.”
Ask Sita devi how merciful and just it was.
She was banished during pregnancy by her husband, the king, to the forest, all because she was a victim of kidnapping.
Sharanagati:
Sita’s banishment is not accepted as being authored by Valmiki by many people. There are many versions of the Ramayana, some with Sita’s banishment, others without.

One point I make in my latest comment on the Reality Check post is about interpolation of scriptures by people seeking to push their own agenda by re-writing scriptures.
Whether Obama is a good man or not doesn’t makes much difference really. Anyone with half a brain in the world today knows that politics in America is not about ideals but about corporate interests. Even if Obama is a sort O Rama (as you say), still what can he do really.
O he will be elected no doubt, but if he steps out of line he gets hit by “terrorists”. The plot was never so easy, “Obama is a traitor to Muslims around the world. Just see, he even carries a Hindu deity in His pocket. Infidels must die!”
And if he isn’t a “traitor” but tries to cooperate with the Islamic world, the American fundamentalists will get to him. The corporate world is ready to support either plot.
And then there are the dissatisfied whites…
The only class that does not present a treat (again) is women.
Quietly back to the kitchen…
OK Vrajabhumi, I concede your point
There is also that time Rama, or Lakshmana, killed a sudra for reading or reciting the Vedas.
Who knows if it happened?
Still, I am willing to bet that some incarnations did things that to us today appear to be archaic and patriarchal at best.
Afterall, the cultures that they appeared in were not very progressive, at least that is the idea you get reading the Ramayana, Bhagavatam, Mahabharata, etc.
Madri committed “sati” and Krishna did not try to stop her.
Sharanagati, in the Gita Krishna says that he incarnates from time to time to reestablish dharma because dharma becomes corrupted. One of the ways that dharma becomes corrupted is through the interpolation of and creation of bogus scriptures. I highly doubt that God would support anything that is essentially unfair and wrong for society as a matter of policy. After all, God is not just a man, God is also a woman.
