His Divine Grace A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupāda
Prabhupāda: Still, if you say, “You are mūḍha, ” they become angry. Such mūḍhas, rascals, they are in the government service. And if you say that “You are mūḍhas, ” he becomes angry. Upadeśo hi mūrkhāṇāṁ prakopāya na śāntaye: “If a mūḍha is advised nice instruction, he becomes angry.” He does not take it. Payaḥ-pānaṁ bhujaṅgānāṁ kevalaṁ viṣa-vardhanam: “If you give milk and banana to a snake, you simply increase his poison.” One day he will come-(growls). You see? “I have given you milk and you…” “Yes, that is my nature. Yes. You give me milk, and I am prepared to kill you.” This is mūḍha. We have to kill this civilization of mūḍhas. That is Kṛṣṇa consciousness movement. Paritrāṇāya sādhūnāṁ vināśāya ca duṣkṛtām BG 4.8 . Those who are actually human being, you have to give them Kṛṣṇa. And those who are mūḍhas, we have to kill them. This is our business. Kill all the mūḍhas and give Kṛṣṇa to the sane man. Yes. That will prove that you are really Kṛṣṇa’s. We are not nonviolent. We are violent to the mūḍhas.
This blog is monstorous. You are simply a demon that is blasphemying pure Vaisnavas, starting with Srila Prabhupada. You will go to hell for millions of births for your demoniac arrogance to spit in the face of the acharyas like this.
Yes, perfect gurus like Prabhupada cannot be criticized. We must use the fear of Vaishnava-aparadha and hellfire to keep people from using their rational minds to approach/criticize Prabhupada. It is demonic to be skeptical about apparently outrageous statements made by an acarya. While Prabhupada can criticize scientists, philosophers, women, blacks, etc. Prabhupada cannot be criticized.
I wonder if the above statement by Swami Bhaktivedanta qualifies the Krishna Consciousness Movement for being on the FBI, NSA and CIA terrorist watchlist. Luckily for members of ISKCON, no one takes them serious.
If Hamas in Palestine were to take to the Krishna Consciousness Movement, they would love this. I can see them in a Ratha Yatra procession shooting their AK47’s into the air dancing wildly in kirtan.
“Annonmous”: What is monstrous is the fact that Prabhupada said women enjoy being raped, that they should be beaten like dogs and mrdangas, that black people should be kept as slaves, and that his followers should kill anyone who doesn’t accept his preaching. What is especially monstrous is that he forced his disciples to send 4-and-5-year-old children away to Dallas. Those things are monstrous.
And if you think the horrific statements that Prabhupada made, along with his morally criminal actions against tiny helpless children, are OK, and that anyone who speaks truthfully about these things is “going to hell for millions of births,” then you are monstrous, too.
Prabhupada would also claim that if you take ganja that “you call death near” or that “you will certainly be killed”.
That teaching flies in the the face of Vedic teachings and modern medicine – as well as Ayurvedic prescriptions. In the Atharva Veda ganja is mentioned along with soma as sacred. It claims that ganja can ward off demons (vishkandha) and brings joy and relief from all calamities. Bhang along with Soma are the favorite drinks of Shiva and Indra. One of Mahadeva’s names is “Lord of Bhang”. Ganja or Bhang is also known as Indracana. The Anandakanda is an Ayurvedic medical text from the 10th century which includes over fifty preparations of cannabis for the treatment of disease. In numerous other Ayurvedic texts ganja or bhang is prescribed for many different ailments of the mind and body (see Rajavallabha below).
In India, bhang for the masses in religious use is part of the Holi celebration, just about everyone partakes as they have for thousands of years. It is also part of Shiva Ratri. It is used regularly by many sadhus from all religious traditions, including vaisnavas. There are no prohibitions against ganja or bhang before modern times in any gaudiya literature. Prabhupada said that his father used to give bhang to babajis when they visited his home.
Vrajabhumi,
I would like to submit that I think your approach is cowardly. You sit back and take pot shots at things that Srila Prabhupada said, but you don’t have the courage to put forth what you think is important or creditworthy. From what you have written so far it is hard to tell if you believe in God, think there is any value in chanting Hare Krishna, think that the Vedic scriptures present anything of value, or think that Srila Prabhupada did anything of value.
You remain hidden like a coward.
Just my 2 cents.
Makhancor, it is obvious that you haven’t read much if any of my writing on this blog, both in the posts and the comments, if you had you wouldn’t make such uninformed statements.
Makhanchor das is right. We should emulate the heroic Prabhupada who did not take pot shots at women, blacks, scientists and the average man/woman in the street during his preaching.
Swami Iconoclast says,
“Makhanchor das is right. We should emulate the heroic Prabhupada who did not take pot shots at women, blacks, scientists and the average man/woman in the street during his preaching.”
Swami Iconoclast usually provides some comic relief with his silly statements, now he is just being ignorant.
Swami Bhaktivedanta saw everyone in a bad light: godbrothers, scientists, women, blacks, babajis, castes brahmanas, government leaders, secular school educators–everyone except himself. He has often implied that he is a pure devotee and that he is the one that Krishna empowered to spread bhakti all over the world. That does not strike me as someone who sees himself lower than the blade of grass, or devoid of all sense of prestige.
He would get very defensive in the face of criticism of him or his religioius organization. That does not strike me as one who is more tolerant than a tree.
Instead of glorifying Vaisnavs who emulated Haridas Thakur by chanting 300,000 thousand names of Krishna a day, he would deride them calling them cheap imatators.
No, I do no want to emulate Prabhupada.
For someone who boasted about the high standards that he and his disciples were following of no meat eating, no gambling, no illicit sex and no intoxication, he was sure happy receiving money from a sannyasi disciple who was doing dope runs to finance the buildings in India.
I just can’t believe how many readers actually think “Swami Iconoclast” is being serious!
The definition of “iconoclast” is:
1. a breaker or destroyer of images, esp. those set up for religious veneration.
2. a person who attacks cherished beliefs, traditional institutions, etc., as being based on error or superstition.
The commentator known as “Swami Iconoclast” is being COMPLETELY sarcastic!
People may claim the swami is being sarcastic or ironic, but only those who don’t accept the absolute truth of what the swami says will disparage his devotion to Prabhupada in such a way. Those of us who agree with the swami – that Prabhupada is infallible and all perfect in an infinite variety of ways, that Prabhupada sets the standard for what is good, bad, right, wrong, truth, untruth, reality, illusion, – will rightfully see the claims that the swami is being sarcastic or ironic as being the sign of a demonic mentality. We see that he is simply stating universal absolute truth. If you claim his glorification of Prabhupada is sarcastic or ironic then you are showing your demonic nature by disagreeing with the truth of the swami’s glorification of Srila Prabhupada whose books and teachings will be the lawbooks for human society for the next 10,000 years.
My point is you are making points about what you don’t like. From what I see you are not making points about what you like or believe in.
What do you like?
What do you stand for?
It’s easy to take pot shots.
It’s more difficult to figure out what you want to see manifest in the world and take steps to manifest it.
For all your criticism of Srila Prabhupada, he did that. He created a place for people to grow spiritually. Sure there may be an underbelly, but he did actually do something to make the world a better place.
You say you have done this kindly quote back to me what statements you have made that are positive statements about what you believe in.
Makhanchor I understood your point the first time. Why should I repeat what I have already written simply because you won’t take the time to read?
I would think that if you understood my point you would address it. You haven’t.
You don’t like what things Srila Prabhupada has said that make him look sexist or racist.
That much I get.
That says nothing about what you believe is good, or where you believe the truth resides. I guess it doesn’t reside in the Vedic literatures because they have been interpolated upon.
You want to stay hidden.
OK so be it.
Are we to assume that you believe in what Srila Prabhupada has taught with the exception of the things you complain about on this blog?
